This was a game made for GMTK 2023. GMTK is a game jam in which participants have 48 hours to complete an entire game from scratch. The game jam also has a theme. The theme for GMTK 2023 was roles reversed, essentially meaning some normative role in a video game to be reversed, such as the hero becoming the villain, or instead of controlling the chess pieces, you control the chess board. 

My creative process began with creating a simple player character controller. After testing the player controller, I configured the controller's movement to be quite soft and floaty. So then I got the idea of the player character being a hot air balloon.

From that initial ideation of a hot air balloon, I had to plan and sketch out a game that could be completed within the short 48-hour time frame. I broke down a potential game into three elements: the player, a goal/object, and an obstacle. That became the hot air balloon, the soda can, and finally the saws. I chose these items as they could be easily animated and used to construct various levels.

I created the entire game, level by level, with all art, animation, code, and design completed solely by myself.

All art, code, and objects, besides audio, are made from scratch.
